These pieces have been created by one person from conception to the burning of the CD. If a composer can play all the parts, all the notes herself, then the composition will sound as she has imagined it. Or it won’t. While the musician is playing along with herself, the original ideas that were born on paper or in the head may take new directions, especially if the pieces, like these here, are part improvisation.
I wrote Baroque, Weaver and Menuet some years ago and played them in different set-ups , with several musicians. The rest have been created as one-woman compositions.
The Mt Auburn Cemetery in Boston is like a romantic park with forests and lakes, and one can see tombs even from the 1700s. It makes one think of a novel, and one starts imagining all those life stories. I wrote Cemetery and took the pictures here.
